Gateway Casinos & Entertainment Limited with the acquisition of Playtime Gaming Inc, now has 18 gaming properties with more than 200 tables, over 6,100 slot machines, and together with business partners Gateway operates 36 restaurants, 1,000 hotel rooms and has over 3,800 employees.
As a proven Canadian operator we recognize that building and operating a gaming facility is not a one size fits all proposition. We strive to meet and exceed the expectations of our gaming customers and residents and neighbours in each community in which we operate.
We continue to be a committed contributor to the communities we call home. In partnership with the BCLC, the net profits from gaming are a vital component of the provincial budget—helping fund health care, education, and other important programs and services. We take an active role in supporting job creation and economic development as well as local community and charitable initiatives.
Through GatewayGIVES we are able to give back, pitch in and provide support to those causes that mater most to our neighbours. Gateway strongly believes in offering not just our resources, but also our time, our know-how and our properties in supporting local efforts in the community where we operate.
Playtime Gaming Inc.a privately owned company opened the first four commercial bingo facilities in British Columbia in 1986. The company expanded into six gaming facilities, making Playtime Gaming the largest and longest-running operator of gaming facilities of this type in the province.
In 2007, Playtime Gaming expanded its operations after the BCLC approved the expansion of bingo-only facilities into Community Gaming Centres—gaming entertainment venues located in markets where the cost of a large-scale casino could not be justified. Community Gaming Centres operate slot machines, electronic table games, and bingo (e-Gaming), along with full-service restaurants and bars.
